Beijing seizes the opportunity of the Winter Olympics to polish the "golden business card" of historical and cultural heritage

CCTV News:Today (February 13th), 2022 Beijing News Center held a special conference on Beijing’s historical and cultural protection. Beijing cultural relics and tourism departments said that they would seize the opportunity of the Winter Olympics to actively promote Beijing’s intangible experience and polish the "golden business card" of historical and cultural heritage.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, Beijing is a world-famous ancient capital, with 7 world cultural heritages, 3,840 immovable cultural relics and 5.01 million movable cultural relics registered in the state. In recent years, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics has been coordinating the protection, inheritance and utilization of cultural relics around "one axis, one city, two parks, three belts, one district and one center".

Liu Hongchang, spokesperson of the Second Inspector of Beijing Cultural Relics Bureau:First, a new breakthrough has been made in the application for the World Heritage Site, and the draft text of the application for the World Heritage Site has been submitted to the World Heritage Center for format review in advance. Second, we signed agreements with National Cultural Heritage Administration and other units to build a museum city. Third, the construction of the three cultural belts presents new highlights. The Grand Canal Cultural Research Center was established in the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, and a number of Great Wall rescue and reinforcement projects were completed in the Great Wall Cultural Belt.

The relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism said that Beijing’s rich historical traditions have accumulated a large number of precious intangible cultural heritage, and 12 projects, including Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera and Tai Ji Chuan, have been selected into UNESCO’s "Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity". The Bureau of Culture and Tourism seized the opportunity of the Winter Olympics to actively promote Beijing’s intangible experience.

Liu Bin, spokesperson of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism:We will launch intangible tourism routes with the theme of the Winter Olympics and the Great Wall to provide citizens with seasonal options for enjoying the Winter Olympics and winter leisure tours. We actively establish and improve the system construction of non-genetic inheritors’ protection, and continue to grant inheritance subsidies to non-genetic inheritors in the city to ensure the basic inheritance activities of inheritors.
